Busyness vs. Productivity

Hi There!

As we are in the second month of the year, I want to talk about making sure that you are being productive with your life rather than just being busy. There is a big difference between the two. It is important that you understand the difference and make sure that you are laying out goals for yourself and consistently measuring whether or not you are meeting your goals. This will ensure that you are not living in an unfocused busyness but that you are actually accomplishing what you need to.

How often do you run into someone and you ask how they are doing and they say “busy, busy, busy.” And they talk about how they are the busiest person on earth. People who are truly accomplishing things do not have to broadcast everything that they are doing.

What is more powerful? The person who you see accomplishing all these things but they always have a lightness about them and a smile on their face or someone who is frantically running around trying to aimlessly get things done and clearly does not have control over their lives?

The more that you take control of your life and your productivity, the less “busy” or out of control you will feel and more composed and powerful you will be.

Being busy does not equal being productive. Productivity is doing things in a measured, targeted way that is helping you accomplish your goals. The hustlers, the people with fire and passion, the people who move the pendulum, those are the people who produce. Those are the people who are actually getting things done.

Not knowing what you are doing causes you to get into the mindset of a hamster wheel rather than taking charge and control of your productivity. This month, this year, target the things that you want to accomplish. Do you want to start something in your community? Do you see something that you want changed? Make a goal to do something, make steps to achieving that goal, and work on those steps consistently.

Do not feel like you have to announce to everyone how busy you are. You do not need validation in order to be productive. Your actions will speak a lot louder than your words. Hold yourself accountable.

If you focus on producing then people, work, projects, collaboration will come to you. Magic happens when passion meets progress. Focus on what you are passionate about and work towards making progress in it. Take control of your life, your year, your month, your day, your hour, and make it a productive one.

Go crush today and hustle hard toward your goals!
